The Chevalier Inn
In 1958, this building, the newly built Chevalier Tavern & Restaurant, operated roughly on the site of The Old Chevalier Inn, destroyed in the Blitz of May 1942. The inn had not been open all that long, having taken over Chevalier House. In fact, this local landmark had been a pair of town houses, with elaborately carved wooden frontages, built in the early 17th century.
